Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • Authors agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved

The "KMUJ: KHYBER MEDICAL UNIVERSITY JOURNAL" is a Quarterly, peer reviewed journal and follows the uniform requirements for Manuscripts submitted to Biomedical journals as approved by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors as revised in 1997 published in N Eng J Med 1997; 336:309-15. The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) has produced and updated the "Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts (URM) Submitted to Biomedical Journals". KMUJ (previously KMJ) is the first Pakistani medical journal that provides you easy and user friendly ONLINE SUBMISSION OF ARTICLES on its web site

  • Visit:
  • Click REGISTER  link on the upper right corner
  • Fill in registration form to register with this journal. All fields with an asterisk (First Name, Last Name, Affiliation, Country, Email, Username, Password, Repeat Password) are mandatory
  • LOG IN with your username and password.
  •  Start a new submission by clicking the NEW SUBMISSION  button on the right side of the screen. You will be taken to Step 1 of a 5-Step process to upload and describe your submission.
  • STEP 1. START:  provide preliminary information about your submission. To begin select the appropriate section for your submission. CLICK to check the BOXES of Submission requirements
  • STEP 2. UPLOAD SUBMISSION: First, you MUST select an Article Component. This lets the system know whether the file is the body of the manuscript, an image etc. UPLOAD FULL TEXT OF YOUR MANUSCRIPT HERE. This must be selected before your file will upload. Follow the steps: 1:Upload file, 2: review Details 3:Confirm
  • STEP 3. ENETR METADATA: Enter Title, subtitle & Abstract: You can add more contributors (e.g., co-authors), by clicking the Add Contributors link.  Hit Save, and the new contributor will appear on the screen
  • STEP 4-CONFIRMATION: CONFIRM that you are happy with your submission. Click FINISH SUBMISSION and then Click OK
  • STEP 5.  NEXT STEPS: SUBMISSION COMPLETE: Your submission is now complete! The editor has been notifed of your submission. At this point, you can follow the links to: 
  • Review this submission
  • Create a new submission
  • Return to your dashboard   Once you complete a submission, you cannot make changes to it. If you want to replace the file you submitted or make other changes to the submission, you will need to contact the editor through the Pre-Review Discussions tool.
